“It will come to no surprise that Fabric is a pretty cool cat himself. In this comprehensive compendium, a variety of material is whimsically and effervescently dealt with, never forgetting for a moment that to swing is the thing.” Nice. The word effervescently is so under utilized.

Welcome to two days of cat albums, blog music friends. This album is kindly displayed with the help of our eldest cat one Salal Berry-Jam Face. Also know as Salal, he enjoyed this swing album. Let’s start with the fellas name ~ Bent Fabric. Who names their kid Bent? Great album cover and enjoyable enough listen but not a keeper, Rethrift. Distributed in Canada by my hometown London, Ontario Records. Youtube suggests he is Danish. This is in 1962~ the  album that won a grammy? Have you heard of it?  from wiki:Bent Fabricius-Bjerre started a jazz ensemble after World War II and founded a label, Metronome Records, in 1950. However, he is best known for his 1961 instrumental “Omkring et Flygel” (literally, “Around a Piano”) which became a hit in Denmark. The song was re-released worldwide under the name “Alley Cat” on Atco Records the following year, and went to #1 in Australia and #49 in Germany. The tune also became a hit in the United States; the song hit #2 on the AC chart and #7 on the Billboard Hot 100, and the LP of the same name hit #13 on the Billboard 200.”Alley Cat” also won a Grammy Awardfor Best Instrumental. It sold over one million copies, and was awarded a gold disc. The follow-up single, “Chicken Feed”, hit #63 in the U.S.  when i typed “cat” into the youtube seach 15 million people had watched this cat video. MEOW.
