Recap- I was waist high to an adult, pig tails and eating wet popcorn under a make shift garbage bag raincoat. We were front and centre at the Western Fair, London, Ontario stage. My mom, my brother and I. No one explained what a concert was and I was certain my mother was dying that day. Roy had his back to us in those skin tight black leather pants.. he turned around, the lights came up and he said “only the lonely”. My mother lost her shit., I mean literally I thought she was dying. lol. He died a few years later and now I get to tell everyone that I saw the legend (and I usually tell the longer version of that story). This is the classic best of album, a solid keeper from the year before I was born 1972 – that we might just pull out from time to time of the next few years. What is your fav Roy song?
And in case I already posted that ( I do love Johnny Cash’s embarassment in it).. here’s a live 1974 BBC performance..
